Chairman Kim Seung-youn said on May 15 that Hanwha Life Insurance Co. is a core part of Hanwha Group’s success. The chairman made his remarks at Hanwha Life’s 2015 Annual Award Presentation Ceremony held at Kintex, Koyang City, Gyeonggi Province. He added that this year should be a great year for Hanwha Life, as it is projected to reach the milestone of 100 trillion won in assets, which will usher in a new age for the life insurer. “Let’s open the new age for the super first-class life insurer, Hanwha Life,” the chairman cried out.
Chairman Kim attended the life insurer’s award presentation ceremony for the first time since 2010, and the first time since the company’s name was changed to Hanwha Life from Korea Life in 2012.
Also attending the event were Vice Chairman Kim Yeon-bae of Hanwha Life, President Cha Nam-kyu of Hanwha Life, Vice Chairman Hong Won-ki of Hanwha Hotel and Resort, President Kim Chang-beom of Hanwha Chemical, President Lee Keun-po of Hanwha Construction, President Choo Jin-hyung of Hanwha Investment and Securities, and Vice President Shim Kyung-seob of Hanwha Co., among others. All told, there were some 240 key personnel of the group and its affiliates, including CEOs plus 700 financial planners all of whom were up for awards with outstanding records last year among the 1,800 attendees.
In his speech, Chairman Kim added that the basic job of life insurance is to protect human lives and guard them based on the love for fellow human beings. “And therefore, we ought to be an enterprise that provides warmth in every nook and corner of the world like a warm heart,” he said.
The group gave a special significance to the chairman’s remark that Hanwha Life is a core part of the group’s success, “like its heart,” in front of 24 CEOs of the group’s affiliates. The chairman meant to encourage the spirit of the life insurance firm’s employees, who have been battling low interest rates.
Officials of the group said all the CEOs of the group’s affiliates, and other key executives, attended the event to rouse up the spirits of the leading executives of the affiliated companies of the group, at a time when Hanwha Life is about to see its total assets to reach 100 trillion won this year, opening a brand new age for the life insurer, arousing “lets do it” spirit among the key executives and staff of other affiliates of the group.
Hanwha Life’s total assets amounted to 94.391 trillion won as of March 31, growing three times since the group took over the life insurance company in 2002, whose assets amounted to 29.598 trillion won back then. The total assets of Hanwha Life take up 67 percent of the group’s total assets and its sales last year amounted to 13.600 trillion won, taking up around 37 percent of the group’s total sales.
The chairman has been exalted by the affiliates whose performances thus far this year have been outstanding. He also visited their jobsites and offices to encourage them further.
Chairman Kim during his visit to Iraq, secured another additional order for the Bismaya New Town Housing Project worth $2.12 billion while Hanwha Q-cell signed a contract with Next Era Energy to supply 1.5 GW of modules from the 4th quarter this year to until 2016.
The top award presented by Hanwha Life this year, the Queen Award, went to Mrs. Chung Mi-kyung, the head of the Marketing Team at Dawoon Branch of the New Ulsan Regional Office, in Ulsan, South Gyeongsang Province. Chairman Kim invited the award winners, including six financial planners, to lunch.
