Korea South-East Power Co. President Hur Yup announced that the year of Blue Goat would be the first year KOSEP puts into action the ¡°New Start 2015 Integrity, Anti-corruption¡± drive.

¡°Let¡¯s make our utmost in our positions in order to fulfill responsibilities as an energy public enterprise and go to great lengths as the first year of pursuing ethics management according to public expectation of higher levels of ethics toward public entities than ordinary companies,¡± KOSEP President Hur said in his New Year¡¯s message.

He said the 2015 management buzzword is ¡°giwiihaeng,¡± meaning devoting oneself to doing what one ought to do.

President Hur has been crusading for the cause of integrity since he took the helm at KOSEP. He said moral values will shine brighter the murkier things get. To become a public entity that sets an example of living up to the public¡¯s expectations, Hur expounded the top three ethical guidelines  — humbling themselves, having work attitude of taking responsibility and handling work in a fair manner.

KOSEP¡¯s Remarkable New & Renewable Energy Outcomes

KOSEP has yielded remarkable achievements in photovoltaic power and other new and renewable energy projects the company has implemented over the past three years.

Last November, KOSEP struck a deal on photovoltaic power facilities with Hawon Village in Seogwipo City.

Under the agreement, the Hawon Village Association plans to install 3MW-class photovoltaic power facilities on a ranch area covering 50,000 square meters.

KOSEP will receive some 100 million won in proceeds from the operation of the photovoltaic power facilities for 20 years, before donating them to the Hawon Village Association.

A similar agreement on photovoltaic power has been signed with the Deokcheon-ni Saemaul (New Village) Association. The deal calls for dedicating 60MW-class photovoltaic power facilities, the nation¡¯s largest single project, by 2016.

KOSEP¡¯s construction of the photovoltaic power facilities in collaboration with the private sector is not the first such case. Last December, KOSEP installed 900kW-class photovoltaic power facilities on the idle rooftops of 12 structures belonging to Gyeongsang National University.

Under a collaboration agreement between industry and the campus in April 2012, the photovoltaic power plant went into commercial service six months after the project was launched in July 2014.

KOSEP has teamed up with Korea Expressway Corp. to make the most of the abandoned roads across the nation. The two companies have embarked on projects to install 25MW photovoltaic power facilities on 26 sites on six routes out of 48 sites across the nation.

Finding spacious sites to install photovoltaic power facilities that can be made available for a long period of time is not easy. KOSEP has collaborated with Korea Expressway Corp. in utilizing the abandoned roads of the Namhae Expressway, which caused problems for the latter.

KOSEP has launched a social contribution program, dubbed ¡°Sunny Plant,¡± to provide support for the installation of photovoltaic power facilities targeting university campuses.

The power company has teamed up with the design company Havit D&S, photovoltaic power system maker STX Solar, Topsun and SDN to conduct their first joint project at Vision University of Jeonju.
