Korea Midland Power Co. (KOMIPO) President Choi Pyeong-rak called for his executives and staff members not to rest on their past achievements but to embrace KOMIPO¡¯s growth with a positive mindset and renewed resolution.
¡°We all have a feeling of nurturing green lives whilst waiting for a warm spring season despite the frigid cold spell that is hitting the ground today," said Choi in his New Year¡¯s message. "We cannot rest on our past laurels, but we now have to prepare for a difficult race with a renewed mindset and resolution.¡±
Looking at last year, Choi said, ¡°We had hard times last year as a stream of calls for changes were made, including demand for the normalization of public entities and innovation plans to improve productivity, but I extend heart-felt thanks to KOMIPO members for your contributions and hard work for KOMIPO's management."
¡°Thanks for your contributions and hard work. A heap of pending issues have been solved one by one,¡± he said.
¡°Unfortunately, the so-called New Neutral Era in which we live is in a spiral of crises — one crisis ensues before the previous one ends,¡± he said.
¡°Fortunately, the global economy centering around the United States is showing signs of growth, and the Korean economy is expected to get better thanks to expansionary macroeconomic policies. But we're not in a stable situation due to management risks, caused by such external factors as plunging crude oil prices, a low-yen and expanded fluctuations of the international financial market,¡± President Choi said.
As the first task designed to promote KOMIPO¡¯s sustainable development and employee welfare, Choi called for high-powered innovation to reinvent management fundamentals to overcome difficult business conditions. Late last year, KOMIPO embarked on its ¡°Vision 2025 Management Strategies¡± plan, which will be a foundation for all management activities, and goals that can be attained realistically will be established after current business conditions and management capabilities are evaluated in a rational and prudent fashion. Goals, strategies and action plans will be established in a precise manner so they can be used as a foundation to conduct all business activities, he said.
In order to translate the established goals into action, KOMIPO will introduce a responsibility management system in which each business headquarters has its own autonomy, responsibility and collaboration.
Furthermore, he called for high-powered innovation in the power operation division to enhance the trustworthiness of power facilities, which fell to extremely low levels last year.
Second, KOMIPO President Choi urged his executives and staff members to establish precise response strategies to create future growth engines.
Third, he called for a harmonious balance between cohesion with local society and companywide growth.
Fourth, Choi stressed integrity and safety as KOMIPO¡¯s foremost values.
Lastly, he called for advanced labor-management relations based on trust and communication.
