Korea Water Resources Corp. (K-water) will continue to uphold its management slogan, ¡°Smart, K-water, Start Together,¡± with this year being the Year of Blue Goat, a symbol for sociability and cooperation the same as the company¡¯s slogan.

K-water, under a determination to be reborn this year through reform and outstanding results, will undertake a number of great projects this year.

The company will kick off a model project on the down stream of the Seomjin River to help establish an integrated water control policy, in cooperation with the government and the National Assembly. The experience gained from the Seomjin River down stream control project will be transferred to similar projects around the country, and the company will also develop a flood control project, old reservoirs maintenance work under local autonomous governments and search out new projects for the company for this year.

All river and reservoir control technologies should be streamlined with information on water integrated for management, so that the company will be able to give correct and useful information on water to people as the center for all the information on water in the country.

Another mission for K-water this year will be to build a standard model for Smart Water City to be used as a base for spreading the supply of healthy water across the country.

SWC will be built and expanded in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, near Seoul, to make it a brand city for the supply of fresh and healthy water in Korea. SWC¡¯s success will be spread around the country as an example, winning social approval as a standard for a healthy water supply model in the country. It will be gradually expanded around the entire country so that local potable water supply systems under the management of the local autonomous governments would adopt the system as a model.

K-water will not spare any effort to expand the potable water supply system to the areas which do not yet have access to it. They also pledge to repair old potable water systems in metropolitan areas, so benefits from the supply of healthy potable water could reach every corner of the country.

K-water will also focus its operations overseas, too, this year to bring the success of Shihwa to globally markets as a model for cities. They want to speed up development and execution of various projects.

In the first quarter, the project undertaker for an international theme park will be selected. The Busan Echo Delta City Project will be formally kicked off

The Ara Boat Way¡¯s peripheries will be cleared up as early as possible so it no longer is the subject of talk. K-water plans to make the Ara Boat Way a top cultural, tourism and leisure facility in the Seoul area. The 18-km long canal will be strewn with flowers with top performance stages for tourists travelling to Deokjeok Island. Five islets in the West Sea from Yeouido provide them with fresh fish and logistics facilities, making the canal one of K-water¡¯s best facilities.

K-water will also broaden its overseas operations by choosing the new projects involving only strategically necessary countries, while trying to boost the profits of existing projects overseas. K-water will try to diversify projects by strengthening ties with international organizations and foreign partners by tightening the management of risk.

K-water also plans to build a steadfast working network involving the Unification Preparation Committee, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, other government agencies dealing with North Korean affairs and experts on North Korea, and also strengthen ties with Russia and other nations for strong cooperation.
