Hanwha Business Group executives and staff members joined a social contribution campaign in October to commit themselves to corporate social responsibility in celebration of the firm¡¯s 62nd anniversary.
Executives and staff members from 65 work sites belonging to 22 Hanwha subsidiaries participated in the campaign during the period between Oct. 7 and Oct. 31.
It was the eighth social contribution campaign since the business group launched it to celebrate the 60th anniversary.
The group said the theme — ¡°Together and Far Away¡± — is designed to help the group devote itself to being committed to corporate social responsibility in accordance with its contribution to the service of the nation, one of the group¡¯s founding ideas.
The volunteer activities involved diverse programs, including events with children from welfare facilities with which the group has sisterhood relationships.
Thirty-one Hanwha Group executives and staff members as well as 31 children from the Jungnyang-gu Multiethnic Family Support Center jointly toured the Hanwha Memorial Museum in Incheon and looked at the group¡¯s first production of dynamite and other contributions to the development of the nation.
In the afternoon of Oct. 8, Hanwha Life Insurance Vice Chairman Km Yeon-bae, Hanwha 63 City President Lee Yul-gok, and 20 other executives and staff members took time away from their job and made side dishes. Food and school supplies were delivered to the children of welfare facilities associated with municipal and provincial governments across the nation.
¡°If we can give children with whom we have close ties bigger dreams so they can grow up as leaders of our future society, it will be the most significant anniversary event to translate into action the management tenet ¡®Together, Far Away¡¯ the group has pursued for the past 60 years,¡± said Vice Chairman Kim.
Meanwhile, 22 Hanwha subsidiaries conducted diverse cultural events tailored to meet their regional characteristics through the end of October.
Executives and staff members from 10 worksites in the Daejeon and Chungcheong spent time with 60 children. An activity of note included baseball lessons from Hanwha Eagles coaches.
