28th Textile Day Anniversary Observed
KOFOTI hosts the anniversary event in which 143 people were awarded with diverse prizes

Chairman Park Soon-ho of Sejung won the coveted Order of Industrial Service, Gold Tower in recognition of his contributions to the development of the Korean textile and fashion industries, during the 28th Textile Day anniversary at Korea Federation of Textile Industries (KOFOTI) Center in Seoul on Nov. 11.

Park was cited for 40 years of innovative management based on domestic production to evolve his company into a fashion powerhouse with 700 billion won in sales, as well as his contributions to the development of the domestic textile and fashion industry and creating jobs. He was one of 143 people who won a variety of prizes, including orders and government medals, for their contributions to the development of the Korean textile and fashion industries. 

Some 500 people from industry, academia and government circles participated in the Textile Day anniversary event, sponsored by KOFOTI. Also on hand at the ceremony were Prime Minister Chung Hong-won, Deputy Minister Park Chung-won from the Office of Industries at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), Rep. Lee Hyun-jae of the National Assembly Trade, Industry and Energy, Rep. Chun Soon-ok, KOFOTI Chairman Sung Ki-hak and KOFOTI Vice Chairman Yoon Soo-young.

Hansae Yes24 Holdings Chairman Kim Dong-nyung was honored with the Order of Industrial Service, Silver Tower for growing Hansae Yes24 into a global textile exporter with an annual average growth rate of 20 percent, and enhancing the competitiveness of the domestic textile and fashion industries by acquiring Korean brands, promoting shared growth with domestic firms and initiating a textile production system based on design. 

Wivis President Do Sang-hyun was presented with the Order of Industrial Service, Bronze Tower in recognition for exploring the blue ocean of the industry, and leading fashion trends with excellent brand planning capability. 

The anniversary event coincided with the ¡°IT Convergence Imaginary Fashion Show¡± to show off the nation¡¯s standing a variety of technologies, and the Korean textile and fashion industries. A video featuring a fashion show by avatars of Korean-born designer Lee Seung-ik¡¯s ¡¯15 S/S costume was shown during the fashion show to publicize Korea¡¯s capability of combining technologies and the fashion industry, while fashion models walked the catwalk simultaneously. Lee is now active in Italy. 

KOFOTI also sponsored Textile Week, which ran from Nov. 10 to 15, the 2016 S/S Fashion Materials Trend Seminar, a consultation meeting with invited buyers from each district of China, a seminar on carbon textile applications for automobile structure materials, and a climbing competition for those in the textile and fashion industries.
