LS Group¡¯s Reshuffle Aimed at Grooming Next-Generation Managers and Upping Management Capability
Promotes 36 executives, including LSIS Vice Chairman Koo Ja-kyun and LS Cable & Systems, elevated to chairman

LS Group conducted a reshuffle involving 36 promotions, including new inaugurated chairman, two vice chairmen, a president, five senior executive vice presidents, four executive vice presidents, and 12 managing directors, the figure more than last year. The personnel change is designed to take into account a small number of promotions made in 2013, refresh its organizational air, and brace for the future, group officials said.
LSIS Vice Chairman Koo Ja-kyun and LS Cable & Systems President Koo Ja-eun who declined promotion offers in consideration of the group¡¯s business environment uncertainties have been promoted to chairman and vice chairman, respectively. New LSIS Chairman Koo has been credited with his contribution to driving continued growth momentum and securing the company¡¯s competitive edge by developing such technologies as high-voltage direct circuit (HVDC) since 2008 when he took office as the company¡¯s CEO. New LS Cable & Systems Vice Chairman Koo has earned kudos for his leading roles in overcoming a management crisis the company had undergone and enhancing competitiveness in such core business areas as undersea and super-conducting cable segment and landing overseas orders. LS Group has elevated LS Mtron to its division to nurture tractor and electronic parts segments as future strategy industries. To this end, New LS Cable & Systems Vice Chairman Koo has been appointed to concurrently serve as vice chairman & CEO of the division. LS Emtron¡¯s elevation to a division brings to five the number of the group¡¯s divisions on top of the existing LS Cable & Systems, LSIS, LS Nikko-Copper, and E1.
LS Corp. President Lee Kwang-woo has been promoted to vice chairman for his leading roles in changing LS Corp. into a holding company in 2008. His promotion is likely to strengthen the holding company¡¯s standing. The group plans to recruit from outside gifted manpower with the right stuff to maximize the group¡¯s business portfolios, present new group visions, and explore new growth engines. In the reshuffle, the group has hand-picked young managers with positions higher than senior executive vice president¡¯s status and charged them with core jobs. Senior Executive Vice President Lee Kwaang-won has been promoted to become the chief operation officer of LS Mtron. Executive Vice President Yoon Jae-in and Executive Vice President have been promoted to LS Cable & Systems president, charging them with CEOs in charge of the company¡¯s overall business affairs and business management, respectively to optimize the company¡¯s efficiency. JS Cabled Executive Vice President Lee Ik-hee has been promoted to senior executive vice president to become LS Mtron¡¯s chief financing officer, while YESCO Executive Vice President Jang Kyun-shik and LS I&D Executive Vice President have been promoted to senior executive vice president. Kim Young-hoon, Park Hee-suk and Koo Bon-hyuk, all from LS-Nikko Copper as well Kong Joon-ho of Daesung Electric have been promoted to executive vice president. Among the 12 persons who have been promoted to managing director are Kim Ki-hyung, Lee Jin and Koo Bon-kyu, all from LSIS, as well as Lee Hun-sang of LS Cable & Systems have been elevated to managing director. Eleven people, including Uh Seung-kyu of LSIS, have been promoted to director.
