Hyundai Mobis, an automotive unit of Hyundai Motor Business Group, was presented with the $10 billion trade tower award at the 51st Trade Day anniversary event at the COEX in southeastern Seoul on Dec. 5.

Hyundai Mobis logged $10.21 billion in exports between July 2013 and the end of this past June, a 9 percent rise over the previous period. The company does not rest on the business record, and it is galloping towards an even higher target.

The company ramped up its capability to export automotive parts through aggressive overseas investments. Hyundai Mobis expanded the production capacity of Beijing Plant 3 to 340,000 units during the year, and the Jiangsu 3 plant — capable of 300,000 modules annually — was put into operation in the first quarter of the year. A plant in Turkey, dedicated in  September last year, now mass produces modules. A module plant in Ohio, the United States, now supplies chassis modules to Chrysler. The cumulative number of module units supplied to the American automaker topped the 1 million mark last year. Hyundai Mobis¡¯ automotive supplies to global automakers are surging. The company saw exports jump from $530 million in 2009 to $1.17 billion in 2010, $1.82 billion in 2011, and $2.26 billion in 2022. The figure for the whole of 2014 is projected to top the $3 billion mark.

Hyundai Mobis plans to concentrate on elevating the quality of its products to reach global levels. To this end, the company plans to devote itself to achieving four goals -- faultless quality, securing a regime moving customers, establishing global standard processing and ramping up quality competitiveness in collaboration with business partners.

The company expects its efforts to strengthen quality management to maximize customer satisfaction, its foremost task. The company lends an ear to diverse customers¡¯ voices by monitoring them in real-time to address complaints and problems. The Overall Situation Room serves as a control tower designed to ensure quality management.

In particular, in accordance with the global community¡¯s moves to introduce more stringent regulations, Hyundai Mobis devotes itself to enhancing energy efficiency of environmentally-friendly automotive parts and making cars smaller and lighter. The company now supplies to Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors such key automotive parts as start-up generators and battery packs through R&D of eco-friendly automotive parts and quality management. It also plans to beef up its global competitive edge by upgrading its own design capability and standardizing processes.

Mobis to Produce Top-Quality Auto Parts for Safety of Customers and Global Automakers

Hyundai Mobis has been strengthening its strategy to sell its auto parts to automakers other than Hyundai and Kia amid intensifying competition among car parts makers in an effort to expand sales and secure a commanding position in the global auto market, which is currently faced with an excess supply of auto parts.

The auto parts maker has always maintained its basic values of technology and quality and has been steadily conducting R&D activities, with the entire company focused on a quality revolution of its products.

The company strives to build a foundation to join the top five auto parts makers in the world by strengthening its quality competitiveness and R&D capacity, building an advanced production system, building a system that can move customers and invigorating a ¡°live and let live¡± culture.

The auto parts maker has decided to increase its lead over challengers through ceaseless development of technology and product quality in its module production sector, which is equipped with global competitive power.

The company also plans to secure future growth engines in such areas as direction, control lamp, airbags, and other core parts with a multi-mechanic intelligent-type safety system and develop technologies in all electronic parts areas in order to ensure its long-term growth.
