The 100-member team conducts diverse volunteering activities, including the establishment of a garden in the traditional Dangjin Market
Hyundai Steel has launched the sixth university students¡¯ volunteering team dubbed ¡°Happy Yes.¡±
The 100-member team conducted diverse volunteering activities, including the establishment of a garden in the traditional Dangjin Market, the operation of an environmental, hands-on experience booth, and the drawing of wall paintings in the Danjing area in Chungcheongnam-do between July 15-18.
This year, it takes on significance that the volunteering team itself has planned and carried out it volunteering activities. The 100 Happy Yes volunteers, divided into 10 groups, have operated programs to provide diverse experiences for children and residents in the Dangjin area.
Primary school students were offered an on-the-job training class and an environment-friendly class. Wall painting and other activities to improve the surrounding environment were conducted.
Happy Yes members were engaged in a program to dish out plant seeds and effective microorganism (EM) soaps and operate an eco-friendly cosmetics-making booth so that Dangjin residents can participate in the events and promote awareness toward eco-friendliness.
All 100 members of the volunteering team joined forces in the gardening project to transform a no-parking area of the Dangjin Park, once an ugly scene of discarded waste, into a small garden.
Starting with the activities in the Dangjin area, the Happy Yes team will carry out more volunteering activities until early next year, Hyundai Steel said.
The volunteering team was inaugurated in 2009 with the goal of conducting corporate contribution activities for the regional society and instilling in university students the attitude of volunteerism for helping the underprivileged. Each year, 100 university students have been selected. So far, a total of 600 students have participated in the volunteering activities.
