Lee Sang-kwon, former legislator of the ruling Saenuri Party, has been named as President of Korea Electrical Safety Corp. effective Feb. 20.
The new president who is a former senior prosecutor with the Incheon Regional Prosecutors Office, worked as the head of the Incheon area for the Park Geun-hye Presidential Candidate Nomination Committee. He won a seat in the 18th National Assembly by-election in 2010, but failed to win the seat again in the 19th parliamentary by-election last year.
During the two years of his service as a member of the National Assembly Knowledge Economy Committee, he dealt with various issues on the government-run companies.
He served as a prosecutor for 17 years from 1982 when he passed the 24th National Judiciary Examination with his last position having been a senior prosecutor with the Incheon Prosecutor¡¯s Office. He served as a prosecutor specializing in the labor affairs for six years from 1988 dealing with various labor conflicts, contributing to the settlement of the industrial peace in the country. He retired from the prosecutor¡¯s office to work as a lawyer for about 10 years until July, 2010 when he successfully ran and won a seat in the parliamentary election.
