SK Business Group conducted a regular reshuffle of the CEOs of its subsidiaries on Dec. 12, promoting 141 executives, including SKC President & CEO Park Jang-suk, who has been elevated to vice chairman. The total number of those promoted in the latest reshuffle is almost the same as last year. The latest personnel change may be construed as the business group¡¯s bid to minimize replacing of CEO-level executives and attaching top priority to ensuring operational stability, given the absence of Group Chairman Chey Tae-won. All chairmen of the six committees under the umbrella of the Supex Pursuit Committee were retained, and SKC President Park became the sole executive promoted to vice chairman.
New SKC Vice Chmn. Park was promoted to president in July 2004. Park is the husband of Chey Hoe-won, the second eldest daughter of the late SK Group founder Chey Jong-kun, and a younger brother-in-law of SKC Chairman Chey Shin-won. A graduate of the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Park began his career as a freshman employee of Sunkyung Corp. in 1979 and has since held such positions as senior vice president of SKC strategic planning, information & procurement, the head of the Management Support Headquarters, the chief of the telecommunications business division and senior executive vice president in charge of overall management.
New Vice Chmn. Park has been credited with restructuring SKC into a globally advanced materials company.
Jeong Khee-bong, head of SKC¡¯s chemical industry business division, was appointed to president, replacing Vice Chmn. Park, so Chung now takes the helm at the development of new materials and commercialization division together with Vice Chairman Park.
The business group also promoted Executive Vice President Lee Man-woo, the head of SK Group¡¯s PR Team, to senior executive vice president, and Yoon Yong-cheol, head of SK Telecom PR Office, to executive vice president.
