Shinhan Investment Corp. has launched the Sales and Trading Group to make the interrelationship between the manufacturing and distribution of goods smooth so that the company will not have to rely heavily on brokerage fees for its income. The company also set up a Commodity Strategy Committee for the development of commodities and services tailor-made for customer demand in order to improve the company’s operations.

The company was known to have reformed the evaluation method of its employees’ performances in order to reform the industry’s operation practices and maximized customer values along the way. 

The new evaluation method goes over customers’ profit rates in measuring an employee’s performance, not just brokerage fees earned because to earn more brokerage fees, they have to sell more assets of customers.

The company has had its staff attend PB master’s courses at Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, along with other professional courses to support its staff in boosting their customers’ earnings in their lines of work.

As a result, Shinhan Financial Investment’s customers have been able to expand their assets more than the customers of other firms in the industry and the company came in third in terms of expanding assets in the first half of 2013 despite the difficult market conditions.

The company plans to continue to focus on improving its staff’s qualifications rather than its sales records, opting for qualitative growth from now on, officials of the company said.
