The eldest daughter of Chairman Lim Chang-wook of Daesang Group, Se-ryung, also has joined her father in running the business group, following her younger sister Sang-min, backing up the words floating around the business community that the third generation the family has taken over running the business group.
Se-ryung has been named to take over the food business for the group as an overall creative director from planning, design, marketing and to brand management, said Director Chu Hong in charge of the group¡¯s public relations. The new food dep¡¯t director has been  very good at creativity with significant interest in other areas such as brands, and product marketing and she will be responsible for boosting the brand-name of ¡°Chungjongwon,¡± the representative brand name of the product made and marked by the group as she will take a full charge of the area, he said.
It is for the first time that she was officially appointed an overall director for the food sector of Daesang Corp. She was married to Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong of Samsung Electronics in 1998 when she was still an undergraduate at Yonsei University in Seoul and later they got divorced under mutual consent in 2009. She devoted herself to raising two children from the marriage. In 2010, she took control of Daesang HS, an out-dining firm of the group and has been running, the restaurant chain, ¡°Touch of Space.¡± She has not been involved with other matters of the group other than running the restaurant chain.
In the meantime, Sang-min, her sister, was named as the manager of the strategic and planning headquarter of the group in early October, reports to the group¡¯s head office in Shinsol-dong, northern Seoul, every day to learn management. These days, she often attends the sessions to draw up the business plans for the group, doing her small part in drawing up an outline of the plan.
Sources close to the group said Director Lim has been put in charge of the food sector, the major part of the group¡¯s businesses while her sister works in the planning sector to learn nuts and bolts about management. They said the two daughters have been named to take over important parts of the group¡¯s management as it faces the 60th anniversary in 2016 and speed up its growth and expansion both at home and abroad on the occasion of the anniversary.
The sources both in and out of the group said the two sisters will work hard in their areas of responsibilities in a friendly competition. Manager Sang-min is the major share holder of Daesang Holdings with 37.42 percent, while Se-ryung holds 19.9 percent and Chairman Lim 2.89 percent.
