Chairman Kim Yoon of Samyang Group talks to new employees at "Dialogue With CEO" held on Jan. 31 at the group's head office in Yonji-dong, Seoul.

Chairman Kim Yoon of Samyang Group said in his New Year¡¯s message that doing his or her best for the company is the best way to grow, as it will ultimately benefit them rather than the company or their families.
At a meeting with new employees of the group, the chairman said self-development is needed for any employee, as they are no longer a college student, but a person making a second start in his life to win recognition as a talented employee at the company. The chairman made those points to the new employees as a senior who spent many years in business.
¡°Dialogue with the CEO¡± held on Jan. 31 at the group¡¯s headquarters in Yonji-dong, downtown Seoul, Kim told 46 freshman employees that he wanted to have a free dialogue with them at any time.
¡°If you have the understanding that you have another objective in your lives and you work hard, you will be able to succeed as an employee,¡± the chairmen said, adding that the crucial importance is that you always do your best on the job.
Kim, since he became the top manager of the group in 2004, has always felt that hiring talented employees is very crucial for the group¡¯s success and has attended the last interview with the job applicants every year.
This year was no exception. All 46 newly hired employees went through his interview and he has also held the ¡°Dialogue with the CEO¡± event every year to meet with them personally and urge them to work creatively and hard.
Kim told the new employees to go after the group¡¯s vision and strategy and what he wants from them, along with discussing the no-smoking campaign being pushed in the group. He also answered various questions posed by the new employees.
Lee Jong-sok, 27, one of the new employees at the meeting, said it was great to meet with the chairman and listen to what he had to say to learn what was in his mind. He said they got great help in learning what they have to do in working for the company.
In the meantime, Samyang conducted the ¡°Samyang New Employees Courses¡± for four weeks from Jan. 2 to train the new employees for what they have to do including the tour of various offices and factory sites before they are assigned to their jobs on Feb. 5 They will get on-the-job training for three more months. The group provides overseas training, mentoring service, and social service activities to get them ready to be Samyang employees.
