CJ Group 4DX, an icon of the creative economy, has received the Science, ICT and Future Planning Minister¡¯s Prize at the¡®2013 Korean Creative Economy Awards¡¯ ceremony at the Grand Ballroom, COEX, located in Samsung-dong, Seoul on Dec. 12.

The ¡®2013 Korean Creative Economy Awards¡¯ ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning is an event intended to find and reward various successful cases of daring to challenge, achieve excellent results with creative ideas and discover new markets and products. This year, 12 teams, including both individuals and groups, have been selected based on their achievement and contribution from the many applicants who submitted proposals back in August. CJ Group was the only conglomerate to win an award from the cultural contents business-related field.

With the world¡¯s first 4DX, the next-generation cinema providing an immersive cinematic experience to all five-senses, CJ Group has ushered in a new paradigm for the film industry, combining cultural contents with IT technology to create a new, higher value-added market capable of contributing to the creative economy in Korea. CJ Group has so far created more than 3,000 high-quality jobs through a win-win partnership with small and medium businesses engaged in motion chair and environmental effects, reflecting its commitment to promoting win-win outcomes for cooperation in the film industry. In fact, 4DX is the first single special cinema-brand to be exported to 17 countries around the world, including China, Mexico, Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, Peru, Colombia, Russia, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Poland, Israel, Chile and Hungary. As of December 10, a total of 68 4DX cinemas are in operation. CJ Group aims to expand further to Venezuela, Ukraine, Croatia, the United Arab Emirates and Guatemala with the target of running 90 cinemas in 22 countries by the end of the year. ¡°It is an honor to be selected as one of best successes of the creative economy through winning such a big prize. We will continue to expand across the world and strengthen our position as a global brand who contributes to the creative economy¡±, said an official from 4DX.

Meanwhile, 4DX will demonstrate the ways in which it has contributed to the creative economy at the ¡®Creative Economy Fair¡¯ held in the D-hall on the 3rd floor of COEX, located in Samsung-dong, Seoul, from Dec. 12 through Dec. 15. What¡¯s more, the public will have a chance to experience 4DX through the 4DX highlight video on show at the 4DX booth located in ¡®Seongjang (Growth) Hall¡¯ in Zone 3 at the fairground.

A mini theme hall is available on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m., featuring 10-minute 4DX videos, including 4DX highlights Snowpiercer and Pororo as well as a 4DX trailer of How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Dino Time. In addition, One of a Kind 3D, a concert video featuring Kpop star G-Dragon, will have its 4D premiere. At the event corner, located outside the mini theme hall, there are roulette-games and instant photo-taking events open to participants, along with a quiz related to 4DX and the creative economy. Those who answer the quiz correctly will be rewarded with a small gift. Moreover, mini gourmet popcorn will be given to everyone who visits 4DX from a specially commissioned popcorn bar.
