New KEPCO E&C President Calls for New Resolution, Paradigm
Ex-KEPCO Nuclear Business Division director takes helm at the company

Park Koo-woun said in his inaugural speech, ¡°KEPCO E&C does not forget that it has to have a new determination and paradigm, departing from the practices it has been conducting so far.¡± He made the remarks as he took office as the president of KEPCO E&C at its headquarters in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, on Oct. 18. He went on to say that he would do his best to make KEPCO E&C a company that advances relentlessly and brings happiness to its employees. 
KEPCO E&C held a shareholders¡¯ meeting on Oct. 15 to approve the appointment of the former Director of the Nuclear Business Division as the CEO after he was nominated by the CEO Recommendation Committee.
A graduate of Seoul National University¡¯s Nuclear Engineering Department, the new KEPCO E&C president served as the chief of the company¡¯s project to develop next-generation reactor technology, a technology advisor for the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute¡¯s (KAERI) System-integrated Modular Advanced Reactors (SMART) Development Headquarters, and the head of KEPCO E&C Nuclear Business Division. He also worked as an adviser for POSCO E&C Nuclear Business Division before being appointed to become KEPCO E&C president. 
KEPCO E&C was founded in 1975 with the objective of obtaining core technology. It has since grown to independently design power plants, and has attained remarkable achievements in developing the Korean-model reactor and independent technology in both fossil fuel and nuclear plants, thanks to the tireless efforts and enthusiasm of all its executives and employees.
The plants designed by KEPCO E&C, based on its superior technical expertise, represent the company¡¯s world-class technological standards and have contributed to the enhancement of national energy competitiveness.





More recently, the company demonstrated remarkable achievements in its highly-advanced environment businesses, as well as the renewable energy field, including desulfurization and denitrification based on the know-how and design experiences of the company¡¯s environmentally-friendly plants, which lead the low carbon, green growth of Korea. KEPCO E&C is looking to carry this prestige overseas based on its customer satisfaction ideology, where customer value is the top priority alongside universally-recognized technical expertise. KEPCO E&C is constructing its first-ever nuclear power plant in the UAE and is establishing a foothold for entry into overseas markets. For this project, KEPCO E&C is undertaking the nuclear steam supply system design and the architecture engineering, and is designing and constructing a 5,600MW Korean-type nuclear power plant in the UAE on the basis of the Korean Advanced Power Reactor (APR1400), which is highly regarded for its remarkably improved safety and economy.
Furthermore, the company will provide continued support to small and medium-sized companies and will engage in social contribution activities aimed at carrying out its obligation as a public institute and boost its competitiveness the through enhancement of management efficiency.

WEC Daegu Congress 2013
KEPCO E&C participated in World Energy Congress (WEC) Daegu 2013 and Exhibition held at Daegu EXCO from Oct. 13-17.
WEC is the world¡¯s most renowned energy related international conference held every three years since 1924. This is the 22nd meeting. Under the theme of ¡°Securing Tomorrow¡¯s Energy Today,¡± World Energy Congress Daegu 2013 was attended by more than 5,000 leaders and professionals in energy from businesses, governments, international organizations, academia, and associations in more that 100 countries to discuss the main issues in energy.
The exhibition held in conjunction with the congress was participated in by 263 energy companies in 24 countries including KEPCO E&C, KEPCO, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, SK Group, POSCO, and LG.
KEPCO E&C¡¯s booth introduced the company as well as its nuclear, thermal power, and new & recycled energy businesses. Visitors were greatly impressed by the detailed answers to their inquires and the various promotional materials provided.
For this exhibition in particular, KEPCO E&C subsidized the exhibition rental and installation expenses of two vendors (DDRSoft and Imjin ST) in the spirit of a win-win partnership and shared growth with vendors.
KEPCO E&C expects that the WEC Daegu 2013 and Exhibition to be the important opportunity to show Korea¡¯s energy industry¡¯s status to the world and lay the groundwork for it to grow to a global nuclear power export leader.
