GS Caltex Publishes ‘Sustainability Report 2025’

GS Caltex released its 2025 Sustainability Report, containing the company’s achievements in the ESG sector during 2025.

The latest sustainability report is the 21st that GS Caltex has published since 2006, when the first version made its debut.

The latest report covers GS Caltex’s major activities toward ESG management, such as sustainable and profitable growth and challenging innovative and new businesses, as well as their achievements.

As for the environment sector, GS Caltex has reduced greenhouse gas emissions and implemented new low-carbon projects under the vision “Lower Carbon Refining & Chemical Complex.”

The company reduced greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1+2) by more than 100,000 tons compared to 2024 through activities to strengthen the competitiveness of conventional businesses, such as energy efficiency and equipment efficiency improvement.

GS Caltex has pursued a shift in the energy utilization structure by striking carbon-free steam supply deals and photovoltaic power purchase agreements.

In the low-carbon new business sector, GS Caltex become Asia’s first company to be certified with the RecyClass, the whole plastic value chain of end-of-life vehicles (ELV) and ranked as one of the most respected companies in the new energy category by the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC) for the second straight year.

As for achievements in the social sector, GS Caltex reestablished safety and health sector regime into four axes – governance structure, strategy, risk management, index and achievement – by reflecting core factors of Korean sustainability public disclosure standards.

The company also strived to establish advanced safety culture, such as sticking to Life Saving Golden Rules (LSGR) designed to prevent serious disasters and “STEP Together” (Stop, Think, Ensure, Proceed).

The company saw the cumulative application number of the Energy Plus App, designed to raise customer convenience, soar to 2.2 million as of March 2026, and it was recognized for its competitiveness as GS Caltex became the world’s first refinery company to be honored with global top four design awards – iF Design Award, Red Dot Design Award, IDEA and Good Design Award.

In the governance sector, GS Caltex has redoubled efforts to build reliable management regime.

The company has ramped up a companywide ESG regime with a focus on the ESG Committee and strengthened the execution by operating the Business Council in each new business area of low-carbon new businesses.

In the digital and AI sector, the company has established and systemized security management strategies toward customers and executives and staffer’ information, while introducing the in-house generative AI integration platform “AiU” to raise the efficiency of executives and staffers’ work and in-house data protection levels.

The report was written by reflecting the global sustainability report guideline “Global Reporting Initiative n(GRI)” and Korean sustainability public disclose standards and is available at GS Caltex’s website (www.gscaltex.com).

GS Caltex has been publishing the sustainability report as an interactive PDF instead of on printed materials to protect the environment since 2021.

GS Caltex Ramps Up Supply Competitiveness by Automating Global Lubricant Logistics Center

GS Caltex said the refinery company will transform the global lubricant logistics center in Incheon into an automated facility to strengthen the competitiveness of the global lubricant supply chain.

GS Caltex will automate all processes of storage and retrieval by introducing the four-way shuttle system (AS/RS) as the nation’s first dangerous material treatment warehouse and enable high-density logistic management in restricted space.

The project is a leading example of allowing application of advanced automation technologies in a specialized environment of dangerous materials.

It is also expected to raise efficiency and safety through digitalization of the whole of logistics management.

GS Caltex has seen the lubricant business account for more than half of the company’s total sales.

As supply stability and delivery competitiveness have emerged as core factors in the global lubricant market, GS Caltex has been pursuing automation to cope with rising sales and ramp up logistics competitiveness.
