Doosan Group plans to engage in all-round promotion with Nvidia to explore new opportunities in areas, such as physical AI, robotics and AI factory.
Doosan Group said on June 8 the group agreed to expand cooperation with Nvidia in Doosan¡¯s core business areas, such as energy, electronic materials and robotics.
Expanded cooperation is being promoted, such as intelligent robotics, energy solutions and high-performance electronic materials — closely related to the AI factory Nvidia is pushing ahead with.
Both companies plan to ramp up cooperation with a basic goal of connecting Doosan¡¯s product, technology and manufacturing capabilities and Nvidia¡¯s acceleration computing and physical AI platform.
Doosan¡¯s energy solutions, such as Doosan Enerbility¡¯s gas turbines and SMRs and Doosan Fuel Cell¡¯s hydrogen fuel cells are expected to be utilized for the DSX AI factory platform Nvidia has set as an AI factory standard.
DSX is an AI factory design architecture of integrating computing network, storage and power.
Both companies plan to expand cooperation in areas, such as power supply design for building AI factories, optimizing power generation facilities and exploring low-carbon power resources.
As for cooperation in the physical AI sector, Doosan Robotics is developing agentic robot operation system using Nvidia¡¯s open libraries, such as ¡°Isaac Sim¡± and ¡°Isaac Lab.¡±
Discussions are getting underway on the development of reference robot solutions for work at industrial sites requiring precision.
Both companies agreed to promote cooperation with a focus on an area in which robots can operate after recognizing and assessing working conditions more precisely on their own based on an agentic robot operation system responsible for perception, reasoning and simulation.
With the expanded cooperation in the robotics area, Doosan plans to accelerate efforts to develop world models tailored for industrial sites by grafting Nvidia¡¯s diverse physical AI technologies on Doosan Bobcat¡¯s construction, gardening, agriculture and logistic equipment.
It is designed to provide support so that equipment can perceive diverse working conditions, judge and perform on their own, thus leading the standardization of the compact autonomous equipment market and contributing to building of the related ecosystem.
Doosan Electronics-Materials BG agreed to explore cooperation opportunities for supporting next-generation AI datacenter infrastructure, such as Nvidia¡¯s MGX platform for modular server design.
The subsidiary of Doosan Corp. produces an abbreviation for copper clad laminate (CCL), a core material of printed circuit board (PCB), being used for Nvidia¡¯s AI infrastructure.
Demand on CCL, a key material for operating AI accelerator without errors is on the steady rise. In order to expand production of the material, Doosan Corp. is building a production center in Thailand whose mass production is slated for 2028.
CCL is an abbreviation for copper clad laminate. CCL is a key material of printed circuit board (PCB) and manufactured by laminating copper foil onto insulation layer composed of resin, glass fabric, filler and other chemicals.
Doosan Group Chmn. Park Jeong-won said, ¡°Doosan Group continues to develop technologies essential for an AI era in energy, robotics and advanced materials sectors based on the manufacturing capabilities we¡¯ve accumulated for a long period of time, and as we apply AI to our businesses in an AI factory era and explore business opportunities, this cooperation with Nvidia will be very helpful.¡±
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said, ¡°as Korea, a worldclass manufacturing powerhouse, the physical AI will be new growth opportunities to companies constructing and transporting the world and supplying energies, and Doosan Group will secure new growth momentum in core areas of the AI era, such as intelligent robot, autonomous industrial equipment and next-generation infrastructure by combining Nvidia¡¯s DSX and physical AI and Doosan¡¯s energy, robotics and advanced material businesses.¡±
