On April 20, Hyundai Motor unveiled the IONIQ 3, a next-generation electric vehicle designed to accelerate its transition to electrification in the European market, at the 2026 Milano Design Week, a global design event held in Milan, Italy.
The IONIQ 3 is the latest model in Hyundai Motor¡¯s dedicated electric vehicle brand, the IONIQ.
It is a small hatchback-style model exclusively for the European market designed to allow more people to experience an advanced electric car in their everyday lives.
The IONIQ 3 is characterized by an ¡°aero hatch¡± design that simultaneously satisfies aerodynamic efficiency and ample interior space, performance optimized for European driving conditions based on the E-GMP platform and top-level driving assistance systems.
The exterior of the IONIQ 3 features a new aero hatch silhouette that flows smoothly from the front to the roofline and rear spoiler, realizing an excellent drag coefficient of 0.263.
Based on Hyundai¡¯s design philosophy of ¡°art of steel,¡± inspired by the process of steel processing, the new electric car features clean surface treatment.
Parametric pixel lighting and four dots representing the letter ¡®H¡¯ in Morse code complete the brand¡¯s identity.
Hyundai Motor has designed the interior of the IONIQ 3 to be a warm and intuitive living space within its compact body size through a furnished space approach which organizes the space like placing furniture.
In addition, the new model¡¯s relatively long wheelbase (2,680 mm) and a flat floor layout created a spacious interior that surpasses its class.
By adding a 119-liter ¡®Megabox¡¯ at the bottom of the trunk, it achieved a class-leading total cargo space of 441 liters.
The IONIQ 3 was developed based on Hyundai Motor Group¡¯s dedicated electric vehicle platform ¡°E-GMP.¡±
It is powered by a 61kWh battery, which is expected to provide a driving range of up to 496 km on one single charge.
For the first time in a European sales model, Hyundai Motor has equipped the vehicle with ¡°Pleos Connect,¡± a next-generation infotainment system based on the Android Automotive OS (AAOS), and has applied advanced convenience features such as Hyundai Digital Key 2, Plug & Charge, and V2L for electric car¡¯s interior and exterior.
The IONIQ 3 has a wide range of the latest SmartSense advanced driver assistance systems, including Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2), Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), and Memory Reverse Assist (MRA), to help its drivers travel comfortably and safely.

Hyundai Motor¡¯s high-performance brand, Hyundai N, will compete in the main race of the 2026 24 Hours of ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring, which will be held in Germany from May 14 to 17.
Since its first participation in 2016, Hyundai Motor has successfully completed the race for 10 consecutive years and has recorded five consecutive victories in the TCR class since 2021.
This year, the Korean carmaker will go for its sixth consecutive victory in the TCR class through its first appearance in the SP4T class and verify its next-generation high-performance powertrain to go into Hyundai¡¯s future N models.
The TCR class features touring cars built to World Sporting Consulting (WSC) international standards while largely maintaining the form and parts of production vehicles, whereas the SP4T class is a division where cars equipped with turbo engines under 2,600cc compete with more extensive modifications in accordance with Deutscher Motor Sport Bund (DMSB) regulations.
In this race, Hyundai Motor will enter three vehicles — one Elantra N TCR in the TCR class and two Elantra N1 RPs in the SP4T class.
The Elantra N1 RP to compete in the SP4T class is a race car developed based on the N1 Cup car used at the Hyundai N Festival in Korea.
In particular, the Elantra N1 RP is characterized by the inclusion of a next-generation, pre-production high-performance powertrain, which Hyundai N will unveil for the first time in 10 years.
