The Korea Power Exchange (KPX) announced that it has officially launched ¡°Wise Electric Life,¡± an energy-saving platform that comprehensively compiles previously scattered energy service information, in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and the Korea Energy Agency.

Wise Electric Life is an integrated guide platform built to enable all the Korean people to use electricity rationally and to practically enjoy the benefits of reducing electricity bills.

Major services, such as information on energy welfare benefits and support for renewable energy installation, have been available since March 16.

For all citizens who need electricity bill support benefits, Wise Electric Life integrates and provides 39 types of services related to electricity usage and renewable energy that were previously scattered across seven related organizations, including KEPCO, the Korea Power Exchange, and the Korea Energy Agency.

Notably, the ¡°Find My Benefits¡± feature offers the advantage of allowing users to check previously missed energy benefits at a glance and connect directly to the benefit application page by simply entering basic conditions such as the number of family members or children.

In addition, Wise Electric Life provides guidance on renewable energy support methods (the Renewable Energy Equipment Installation Support System) for homes, commercial buildings and factories and allows users to easily check key information that was previously difficult to access due to complex subsidy procedures and unfamiliar jargon.

Furthermore, Wise Electric Life offers an electricity bill simulation function that allows consumers to directly check the amount of savings they can make on their electricity bills.

Through this, users can calculate and estimate potential savings in advance by adjusting their electricity usage time to off-peak hours when power demand is weak in factories among others.

¡°As the Wise Electric Life Platform resolves the inconvenience of having to visit various agency websites individually, the KPX expect that the people will be able to enjoy a more convenient energy lifestyle in the future,¡± a KPX official said.

¡°The KPX will continue to strive to build a convenient energy usage environment for the people.¡±

KPX to Host Forum with KOREC and Energy Transition Forum Korea

KPX will hold an event to discuss new power regulation governance aligned with the acceleration of its energy transition with the goal of achieving 100GW of renewable energy by 2030.

The Forum on Power Regulation Governance for the 100GW Renewable Energy Era will be held at the HJ Business Center, Jongno-gu, Seoul on April 30.

This forum will be jointly hosted by the KPX, the Electricity Regulatory Commission (KOREC) and the Energy Transition Forum Korea with the participation of civil society organizations.

The forum will consist of presentations in two main sessions and a general discussion.

In the first part of the presentation session, Lee Kyung-hoon, Secretary General of the Electricity Commission, is scheduled to give a presentation on the topic of ¡°The Roles of the Electric Power Supervisory Agency and the Status of Its Establishment.¡±

In the second part, Attorney Kim Gun-young of Climate Solution will present on the topic of ¡°Measures to Reform the Electric Power Industry Regulatory System in the Era of Energy Transition.¡±

Following the presentations, the general discussion will be held by Professor Jeon Young-hwan of Hongik University in the chair.

The other participants will be Lim Jae-min, secretary general of the Energy Transition Forum; Kim Yun-sung, CEO of Energy & Space; Kwon Pil-seok, director of the Green Energy Strategy Research Institute; Jung Se-eun, representative of the Public Renewable Energy Forum; Jung Hyun-soo, chairman of the GX Green Transition Committee of the National Federation of Green Consumers; and Kang Ji-hoon, head of the Market Surveillance Office at the KPX.

In particular, this forum is expected to move beyond discussions led by electric power industry experts and allow for exchanges of diverse opinions including active participation by civil society organizations to represent the voices of consumers as the electric power industry faces significant changes such as the trend of promoting renewable energy and a recent push to establish the Electric Power Supervisory Agency.
