KB Financial Group Holds Information Security Council Meeting to Respond to Financial Security Risks

KB Financial Group held the 1st Quarter Group Information Security Council meeting on Mar. 12 to create a safe financial environment.

Participants included executives in charge of information security from the holding company along with 11 affiliates and the holding company’s compliance officer, Vice President Choi Seok-moon.

The Group Information Security Council serves as the financial group’s information security control tower, carrying out tasks such as establishing strategies, making decisions on major issues, and promoting joint projects based on the financial group’s information protection guidelines.

At the meeting, participants discussed key security tasks for responding to digital environments including how to establish a group mid-to-long-term information security master plan, how to enhance the operational performances and organizational structure of the Cyber Security Center and the establishment of a group integrated security monitoring system.

In particular, in line with the enactment of the Digital Financial Security Act and the implementation of the Framework Act on AI, KB Financial Group decided to focus on reviewing measures for compliance with external laws and establish consistent group-level guidelines regarding new security threats, such as data leaks and model bias arising from the spread of AI services.

The most distinguishing feature of KB Financial Group’s information security organization is that it runs under the supervision of the holding company’s compliance officer.

Through this, the group realizes a “harmony of thorough control and technology,” elevating information security from mere IT technical support to a group-level compliance task, thereby further strengthening the importance of customer information protection and responsibilities for the protection.

The holding company’s compliance officer attended this council meeting to discuss annual business plans and strategies for responding to major laws.

The group established an advanced security strategy that integrates technical security and legal protection , solidifying the foundation for trusted finance that customers can use without worrying about security breaches and miscues.

“As the advancement of AI technology boosts the convenience of financial services, their underlying security systems must become much more sophisticated,” said a KB Financial Group official.

“KB Financial Group will provide customers with the safest financial environment that remains unshaken by any threat through synergies between compliance and security technologies such as by placing the information security organization under the compliance officer.”

Conference with Female Managers of KB Affiliates

KB Financial Group announced on Mar. 8 that it held the New Female Manager Conference on Mar. 6, attended by Chairman Yang Jong-hee and approximately 100 new female managers.

The event was held to congratulate newly appointed female managers from the group’s major affiliates and help them explore their roles and find future directions as female leaders who will drive sustainable growth for the financial group.

The event was particularly meaningful as it took place ahead of International Women’s Day, which was on March 8, a day that symbolizes gender equality and the extension of women’s rights and interests.

KB Financial Group held the event in two parts — “Conversation with Seniors” where senior female executives directly answered questions from the new female managers and shared their stories and advice as female leaders with the new female managers and “Conversation with the Group CEO,” where Chairman Yang personally interacted with the female managers and heard their voices.

Winning Grand Prize at 33rd Advertising Awards

KB Financial Group won the Grand Prize in the print advertising category for its KB National Happiness Project at the 33rd Advertising Awards hosted by the Korean Advertising Society on March 12.

The KB National Happiness Project is a campaign designed to convey gratitude and respect to firefighters and police officers who dedicate themselves behind the scenes for the happy daily lives of the Korean people.

It received high praise for capturing moments from actual scenes to add authenticity and for conveying a message of support shared by KB Financial Group and the people.
