In his New Year’s message, Chairman Park Jeong-won of Doosan Group urged his business group to concentrate its groupwide capabilities to accelerate AI transformation (AX).
Chmn. Park said, “Companies which have AI-based competitiveness will be on a completely different plane.” He called for making conventional products intelligent through swift implementation of AX, creating new business models and expanding its business portfolio.
Chmn. Park extended thanks to his executives and staffers who redoubled efforts to produce outcomes and ramp up competitiveness despite last year’s difficult management conditions.
He selected remarkable achievements, such as Doosan Enerbility’s first exported gas turbines to the United States, a turbine powerhouse and Electronics Business Group’s winning record orders from global big tech companies.
As for this year’s business environment, Chmn. Park said uncertainties are predicted to be maintained amid residual risks, such as commerce conflict, trade barriers, geopolitical conflicts, and policy changes of major countries.
He said AI’s spill-over effects on the whole economy is unpredictable, and amid uncertainties, a formula for guaranteed success of the times is that preparedness is the key.
Chmn. Park asked for maintaining technology prowess of leading businesses and expanding markets, saying electronics material and gas turbine businesses with global market recognition need to widen their competitiveness gap with rivals and secure additional clients.
He stressed that the business group should make the most of market expansion in large-sized nuclear power, highlighted as an energy source of power demand in an AI era, SMRs and hydrogen fuel cell sectors.
Chmn. Park asked for considering inorganic growth strategies to produce synergetic effects of the conventional businesses, saying, “If we find not easy to grow with only conventional resources, we will have to come up with supplementary steps fast, including outside opportunities.”
“As a physical AI Era is forecast to be ushered in fully, Doosan armed with world-class manufacturing capabilities and huge hardware data in areas, such as power generation equipment and materials, construction machinery and robots, has strengths to lead the physical AI era,” Chmn. Park called for making the conventional product intelligent, creating new business models and expanding its business portfolios through fast AX.
Lastly, Chmn. Park said, “Experiences Doosan has accumulated over a myriads of transformation over more than a century is an asset anyone else does no own, and let’s make a success story of the times by adding startups’ challenging spirit to Doosan’s 130-year history of fundamentals.”
Doosan Group Chmn. Park Accelerates Fild Management
Chmn. Park Jeong-won of Doosan Business Group began to make the rounds of major business field sites, such as energy, advanced materials and small-sized equipment to spur their growth in early 2026.
Chmn. Park inspected the worksite of Doosan Enerbility in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, on Feb. 11.
He looked into power generation gas turbine and major SMR equipment production lines which are running busily following the recent landing of orders.
Chmn. Park told accompanying executives Doosan will have to make the most of its opportunities by ramping up global competitiveness based on the capabilities the business group has accumulated so far, saying that “A market of huge opportunities in the energy business sector has been opened up on in conjunction with AI transformation.”
In 2029, Doosan Enerbility succeeded in localizing large-sized power generation gas turbines.
The company has proved its competitiveness fast by having landed a combined 16 units in Korea and abroad so far.
Last year, Doosan Enerbility made a feat of striking a contract to supply five 380MW gas turbine units to a U.S. big tech company, its first overseas export. The achievement is evaluated to have a historic feat of reexporting homegrown technologies and products to the United States, a gas turbine powerhouse.
Doosan Enerbility has established a mid- and long-term road map calling for landing 45 units by 2030 and 105 units by 2038 on a cumulative basis.
