Jangseong Fine Datacenter is Jeollanam-do¡¯s first datacenter.
The project is the first to be built by the private sector following the government¡¯s announcing of steps to ease concentration on the
Seoul metropolitan area in 2023. The datacenter is being built as a structure with six datacenter ground floors, two basement operation floors and other subsidiary facilities.
It will have a combined 24,244 sq. meters of floor space on a land site covering 32,082 sq. meters.
The datacenter will have a water supply capacity of 26MW.
The project will cost 395.9 billion won. It is to be dedicated in late December 2027 following 24-month construction.
Daewoo E&C aims to make the project a new growth engine by participating in the development, investment and operation, on top of construction.
The contractor is seeking to diversify its business portfolio in accordance with the renewable energy transition and AI expansion trends amid the sluggish construction market.
A Daewoo E&C official said, ¡°As demand for storing and treating large-sized data in the wake of greater use of AI and bigdata is on the rise, the datacenter construction market has been expanding.¡±
