The Korea Exchange (KRX) has opened an office in New York City, establishing a hub to access North American capital markets.
Following KRX offices in Asia (Singapore) and China (Beijing), the opening of a KRX office in Europe (London) in May and the opening of KRX New York Office in North America completes marketing bases for Korea¡¯s capital market in the four major global regions.
The Korea Exchange announced on Sept. 16 that it held an opening ceremony for the KRX New York Office at the Harvard Club in Manhattan.
The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 60 VIPs, local financial institution officials and diplomatic officials, including KRX Chairman Jeong Eun-bo, Kenneth Bentson, president and CEO of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, Fiona Bassett, CEO of FTSE Russell, Henry Fernandez, CEO of MSCI, and Park Moon-kyu, deputy consul general of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York.
KRX¡¯s New York Office will market the Korean capital market and continue networking activities targeting global financial institutions, including institutional investors, securities firms, and index operators in North America.
¡°KRX New York Office will serve as a bridge between the Korean capital market and North American investors in Manhattan, the undisputed center of the global financial market.¡± said Jeong Eun-bo, chairman of the KRX who left Korea for the United States on Sept 14 to attend the New York office opening ceremony.
¡°Through KRX New York Office, we will provide North American investors with timely information they need, listen to diverse voices in the field and actively reflect these insights in the Korean market.¡±
The KRX also struck a business agreement with Xpansiv, a global carbon credit exchange operator based in the United States, on Sept. 16. They will collaborate on the establishment of the KRX Carbon Credit Market.
The carbon credit market, also known as the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) is a marketplace for trading certified carbon reduction credits.

KRX Chairman Jeong delivered a welcoming address
¡°As we mark the 20th anniversary of the launch of the integrated exchange and the first year of night trading, the KRX must sharpen the global competitiveness of the Korean derivatives market,¡± he emphasized.
Jeong stated that to respond to changing market conditions such as increased geopolitical risks and the rise of digital assets, the KRX would focus on developing new products, establishing a 24-hour trading system, and strengthening market stabilization mechanisms.

¡°I hope this forum will serve as an opportunity to strengthen global partnerships.¡±
