Woori Financial Group to Promote Korean Financial Industry Globally as Official Sponsor of APEC 2025

Woori Financial Group announced on Aug. 27 that it signed an MOU with the APEC Summit Planning Team for official cooperation for APEC 2025 KOREA.

On hand at the signing ceremony were Kim Ji-jun, director of the Planning Office at the APEC Summit Planning Team, and Lee Jeong-seop, head of the Brand Division at Woori Financial Group, along with other representatives from both organizations.

They pledged cooperation to ensure the successful hosting of APEC 2025 KOREA.

Through the MOU, Woori Financial Group becomes the only financial institution to jointly pursue domestic and international promotions with the APEC Summit Planning Team.

It will convey the message that Korea and Woori Financial Group stand together with APEC 2025 KOREA, contributing to the successful hosting of the event.

Woori Financial Group plans to intensively promote the successful hosting of APEC 2025 KOREA using its headquarters digital display board, digital posters at Woori Bank branches nationwide, and outdoor advertising boards at Incheon International Airport and in downtown Seoul.

“As an international event watched by the entire world, the APEC Summit is a crucial stage to showcase Korea’s standing and capabilities,” Director Kim said. “We are happy that Woori Financial Group, a leading financial institution in Korea has joined APEC 2025 KOREA as an official partner.”

Donation of 200,000 Bottles of Water to Gangneung

Woori Financial Group announced on Sept. 2 that it has provided 200,000 two-liter bottles of water to Gangneung City to help it cope with an extreme drought.

The delivered water will be transferred to Gangneung City Hall via the Korean Red Cross and given to vulnerable groups in the region for various purposes, including emergency domestic water supply.

Woori Financial has proactively engaged in relief activities whenever domestic disasters or calamities occurred, fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities.

It is continuously monitoring the drought damage situation in Gangneung City and plans to provide additional support if necessary.

“As the water level at Obong Reservoir has dropped below 15% among others, difficulties in daily life for Gangneung residents are intensifying,” Woori Chairman Yim Jong-yong said.

“We donated bottled water to help them. Woori Financial Group will spare no effort in fulfilling its social responsibilities.”

Meanwhile, Woori Financial Group has been carrying out social contribution activities, donating approximately 4 billion won to initiatives including: those who suffered impacts from a wildfire in Gangeung, Gawngwon-do, in 2023 and victims of a wildfire in Sancheong, Gyeongsangnam-do, this year, as well as those hit hard by floods across the nation in 2025.

Giving Opportunities for Growth to Teenagers at Child Welfare Facilities

Woori Financial Group’s Woori Financial Future Foundation rolled up its sleeves to help youth at child welfare facilities achieve independence. On Sept. 6, the foundation held a launch ceremony for the youth career and education support project, “WOORI CHANCE - Youth Career/Education,” at the Woori Financial Group headquarters.

This project will run for one year, targeting 50 middle school students at child welfare facilities. Participating youth will enhance their academic achievement through personalized career coaching (eight sessions) and learning improvement programs (35 sessions).

They will also have opportunities to unleash their potential by participating in dream growth camps and presentation sessions (three sessions).

The Woori Financial Future Foundation will supplement all these processes with dream support funds to help the youth prepare for their future.
