Yoon made the statement at an event entitled “The First Media Day: Refreshing Overseas Investment,” at The Plaza Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul on June 17. He declared a transition from the transaction-oriented mobile trading system (MTS) to an information and strategy-centric investment insight platform.
“Competition for lower or free commissions remainshot in the Korean securities industry,” Yoon said.
“But I think even large securities companies will find it difficult to continue this competition. Therefore, our goal is to build a platform that will truly help Korea’s overseas stock investors.”
NH Investment & Securities identified three common challenges faced by overseas stock investors: A lack of access to investment information and timeliness in providing it; a limited trading environment due to time zone differences with overseas stock markets; and a burden of transaction fees.
Accordingly, NH Investment & Securities laid out a plan to build a new platform that removes investors’ inconveniences, and contributes to the growth of their assets through a three-step strategy of “investing like a local investor in an overseas stock market.”
“Under the slogan of ‘investing like a local investor in an overseas stock market,’ NH Investment & Securities accurately understands challenges which customers face in overseas investments,” Yoon said.
“We will put customers’ asset growth before a pursuit of immediate profits by providing timely investment information and strategies. We are not satisfied with our current roles as an investment platform. We will present a vision model called an ‘investment insight platform’ to firmly evolve into a leading capital market platform player that is indispensable to customers.”

In the second half of this year, NH Investment & Securities will launch a linked service through an exclusive three-year contract with Seeking Alpha, a leading U.S. financial and investment platform with 20 million monthly active users (MAUs) and 18,000 in-house analysts.
