Artist Chang Woo-soon is holding her solo exhibition, titled ¡°The Heaven is Like Children,¡± at The Flux Gallery in Jongno-gu, Seoul, from Apr. 1 to Apr. 6.
Artist Chang says that ¡°little birds are bowing down under the big sun, and the sunlight seen in a dream I had one day¡± have become major themes of the artwork on display in the latest exhibition.
One or several circles appearing in the artworks are expressed as minds of the universe and human beings, and these images have been produced by printing and pasting four sheets of hanji, traditional Korean paper handmade from mulberry trees, colored in natural dyes.

I Am the Vine, You Are the Branches (Natural dyeing) 98¡¿80cm.
The five colors of the materials dyed in this way originate from the influence of the traditional Korean ¡°deokseok¡± (thatched mat) culture.
They reflect dim memories in which people laid down on a thatched mat, looked up the sky and talked about their dreams with neighborhood friends in their childhood.
Our blinking childhood memories, expressed with the use of ¡°dak(hanji) paper, ¡°make us to offer profound thanks to the Lord, Creator of the Universe.¡±
Artist Chang has unveiled several amusing artworks showing her ways of thinking over the nature and the universe and her global views under the theme ¡°Light and Life.¡±

She views all things we see in our daily life as if they have something to do with symbolic images seen in her dreams.
