Daesang Group Expands Meat Processing Business Portfolio
Daesang Group continues to make investments to expand the meat processing business.
The move may be construed as Daesang¡¯s efforts to expand its business portfolio to all business areas, ranging from livestock processing to packing and distribution, and seasoned meat through synergetic effects with subsidiaries, including Haesung Provision.
Daesamg struck a contract to take over a 100 percent stake of Chamfood in February. Chamfood, established in 1999, is a food processing company specializing in packaged meat and seasoned food.

It was in 2019 that Daesang acquired the livestock wholesaler DSN, now Daesang Network.
In 2021, Daesang took over Haesung Provision and its subsidiary Crystal Farms. In 2022, Crystal Farms was merged into Haesung Provision to raise management efficiency.
In 2023, Haesung Provision launched the online meat shopping mall ¡°Meat Project.¡±
Last year, Haesung Provision acquired 32,000 shares of Hongwoo, a hanwoo (Korean native cattle) processing company, an 80 percent stake, for 6.8 billion won.

Daesang Tops Four Categories in 2025 Korea Purchase Ease Index
Daesang ranked first in four categories — kimchi, red pepper paste, bean paste and pasta sauce — at the 2025 Korea Purchase Ease Index (KPEI), organized by Korea Marketing Association (KMA) and Korea Customer Appraisal, the company said on March 21.
KPEI is an index in which trust and satisfaction customers feel when they buy products and services are measured. KMA has surveyed and announced KPEI every year since 2014.
For 2025 KPEI, a survey of 3,000 consumers across the nation was evaluated in areas, such as quality of products, after-sale service, design and recommendation intent, and 2025 KPEI No. 1 brands were selected among 289 brands in 73 industrial groups.
Daesang¡¯s Jongga got 825 points out of the possible 1,000 points to place first in the kimchi category for the second straight year, establishing itself as the nation¡¯s representative kimchi brand.
The brand is evaluated to gain trust from customers through the use of 100 percent domestic agricultural produce, acquisition of the HACCP certificates for quality and hygiene management, R&D on kimchi lactobacillus and reinforced line-up.
Chungjungone Sunchang red pepper paste and bean paste ranked highly as they obtained 836 points and 824 points out of the possible 1,000.
The figures are 162 points and 150 points more than the average point.
Chungjungone Sunchang red pepper has led the Korean red pepper paste market by pursuing fervent R&D and innovation.
Chungjungone Sunchang bean paste is evaluated to realize all modernized processes by emphasizing the traditional Korean production of bean paste.
