Strike contract on project with Dangjin City; evaluated to have raised exclusive standing of KEPCO KDN as a public entity that specializes in energy ICT

KEPCO KDN is leading the construction of a safe and convenient hydrogen-based city, as the company has been commissioned with a project to build an integrated operation center for Dangjin¡¯s hydrogen city. 

The commission is evaluated to have raised the standing of KEPCO KDN as a public entity specializing in energy ICT.

The hydrogen city construction project, being implemented by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), calls for the construction of urban infrastructure, such as hydrogen production, hydrogen pipeline and other transportation facilities, and utilization facilities so that multi-family housing, structures and transportation facilities can use hydrogen as an energy resource.
 
KEPCO KDN recently struck a contract on the building of an integrated operation center for a hydrogen-based city with Dangjn City. 

Under the agreement, the company plans to support the efficient and safe operation of a hydrogen-based city through a hydrogen energy omnibus platform, encompassing the collection of information on the full cycles ranging from hydrogen production, storage, transportation and utilization, big data, AI, AR and digital twin.

Under the deal, Dangjin City supports the cost of the integrated operation center construction project and administrative procedures, while KEPCO KDN is committed to providing ICT technologies for the hydrogen energy section, manpower and the operation of the integrated operation center following its dedication. 

KEPCO KDN agreed to prioritize Dangjin citizens in the hiring of manpower in charge of the operation of the integrated operation center, and to promote technology cooperation in the ICT sector and regional manpower development. 

The deal encompasses the construction of the integrated operation center of a hydrogen city, support connected with hydrogen mobility of hydrogen transportation integrated center, support connected with CCUS hydrogen production center, support connected with the hydrogen energy ICT sector, and the establishment of cooperative foothold for cooperation in diverse ICT sectors for public relations of citizens. 

KEPCO KDN is evaluated to have raised the exclusive standing of an energy ICT public entity in charge of the operation of hydrogen cities, as the company has struck a deal on the construction of an integrated operation center with local governments of two out of the three pilot hydrogen-based city projects, as well as two of six first hydrogen cities. 

The company says it is continuously devoting itself to developing the hydrogen city integrated operation center sector using new ICT technologies in accordance with government policies related to the energy industry sector. 


KEPCO KDN Sees 2024 Sales and Operating Profit Rise 

KEPCO KDN, a public entity specializing energy ICT sector, has been maintaining a stable growth mode with 2024 sales and operating profit rising over the previous year on the back of its achievements in the energy ICT sector. 

Provisional management performance figures for 2024 showed that KEPCO KDN 2024 sales stand at 781.6 billion won, a 5.8 percent year-on-year rise, and its operating profit amount to 85 billion won, a 19.4 percent year-on-year surge, the best-ever achievement since its founding. 

The good business performance is owed to the company¡¯s leading of energy transition by focusing on the development of innovative solutions using advanced technologies, such as AI and big data. 

It is also attributable to the company¡¯s raising productivity and reducing unit prices through investment of future energy sectors, such as off-shore wind power, hydrogen energy and virtual power plants and expanded technology development. 

KEPCO KDN¡¯s overseas business is noteworthy. 

The company is expanding its overseas business portfolio by implementing a remotely monitoring project of the Cirebon Thermal Power Plant in Indonesia, based on the success case of building and operating a 54MW photovoltaic power farm in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. 

The company is expanding its global capability in the smart city development and power ICT business sectors through power ICT cooperation, an official development assistance project, with PLN Indonesia Power.
