Korea Water Resources Corp. (K-water) heralded the start of a challenge to grow to a global top-two water leader at a session to kick off the 2025 business year on Jan. 3.

K-water emphasized ¡°innovation and basics to brace for a new water year, in which water management conditions are getting more complex with climate change and future industry landscape changes.¡±

K-water has set the top four core management tenets, complying with 2025¡¯s new goals.

The top four core management tenets are: ramping up water safety, reinventing water technologies, exploring global water markets and strengthening substantial management.

The goals sum up a combination of K-water¡¯s water management capabilities and experience, based on outcomes the corporation has reaped so far, including in overseas markets.

First, K-water plans to invest in water infrastructure to ensure water management based on the basics, amid an extreme climate change environment.

The corporation devotes itself to securing new water resources to brace for climate disasters, such as floods and droughts, while supporting efforts to enhance national competitiveness by stabilizing the timely supply of water to advanced industry sites, such as the national semiconductor industrial complex through expanded alternative water resources.

Secondly, K-water will embark on full-fledged efforts to commercialize global projects through innovation of sustainable water management technology.

The corporation plans to share the values of water with districts and companies through the supply of quality water.

It will ramp up international cooperation in innovative technology development and R&D sectors, such as water resources satellites.

K-water will spur the dynamics of the regional economy by building centers of a ¡°new provincial era,¡± such as specialized water cities, using each district¡¯s riverside ecological resources.

For export companies, the corporation will support efforts to overcome green trade barriers, such as greenhouse gas emission reduction goals using clean energy resources.

Thirdly, K-water will create advanced areas for making inroads into overseas markets based on innovative technologies in the water sector.

The corporation will strengthen the connectivity of integrated water management solutions by embracing water, energy and global marketing activities.

K-water will pump-prime follow-up projects by strengthening international cooperation platforms, such as the Asia Water Council, while expanding green official development assistance in the climate change and environment sectors.

Lastly, K-water will build a foothold to be a global water company by improving institutional fundamentals by mobilizing employees¡¯ capabilities.

The corporation will ramp up fundamentals by building an environment in which each executive and staffer¡¯s capabilities can be demonstrated on top of basics of management activities, such as safety and integrity.
