Chairman Cho Won-tae of Hanjin Group unveils Korean Air¡¯s new corporate value system ¡°KE Way¡± in celebration of the 56th anniversary, at Korean Air headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on March 4. 


With the upcoming merger with Asiana Airlines, Korea Air, celebrating its 56th anniversary, has declared a new vision and pledged to take a leap forward as a global carrier. 

Korean Air held the ¡°Boarding Day,¡± unveiling its new corporate value system in celebration of the 56th anniversary, at Korean Air headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, on March 4. 

The foundation day of Korean Air, established in 1969, fell on March 1. The Boarding Day was attended by some 200 executives and staffers, including Chairman Cho Won-tae of Hanjin Group. 

The event was streamed live via online broadcasting networks to Korean and overseas worksites. 

During the event, Korean Air revealed the new corporate value system ¡°KE Way,¡± containing the new vision and missions. 

KE is Korean Air¡¯s official codename. Korean Air said the new corporate value system is a manifestation of Korean Air executives and staffers¡¯ commitment to building a sustainable management system with one accord and taking a leap forward as a global carrier. 

Chmn. Cho held a town hall meeting to communicate with his executives and staffers. 

The event served as an opportunity to recollect the achievements the airliner has made for the past 56 years, and share a future vision, and its direction in the years to come. 

They also had a question and answer session. 

Chmn. Cho emphasized real integrity among Korean Air and Asiana Airline executives and staffers. It means that the two airliners have to explore a new future to be reborn into a greater united carrier. 

Chmn. Cho said, ¡°Prior to full-fledged preparations for the launch of a merged airliner this year, the newly declared ¡®KE Way¡¯ will be a pivot for Korean Air and Asiana Airlines executives and staffers¡¯ journey to go forward with one goal and core part of identifying the identity of Korean Air.¡±

Korean Air has operated a taskforce consisting of executives and staffers since last year. 

It established a blueprint for the new corporate value system ¡°KE Way¡± through a survey of executives and staffers, inside and outside environment analyses, and experts¡¯ consultation and cooperation. 

Korean Air, holding the Boarding Day in celebration of the 56th anniversary, plans to go for new challenges. 

The highest concept of the new corporate value system is the purpose of its existence ¡®Connecting for a Better World.¡¯

It aspires to be reborn as a global carrier beyond Korea. It means moving toward a better planet by connecting customers, society, and the whole world, corresponding to the standing of a global airliner representing Korea based on its foundation tenet ¡®Contributing to National Development through Transportation¡¯.

The new mission is ¡°To be the World¡®s Most Loved Airline.¡± Korean Air aims to secure trust as a global company beloved by all, based on social responsibility and customer satisfaction.

As for a mission for the new vision, Korean Air suggested ¡°Beyond Excellence,¡± for the highest-level safety management and service and operation, ¡°Journey Together,¡± for a corporate culture prioritizing customers and comrades, and ¡°Better Tomorrow,¡± for contributing to expanding of active exchanges in the world and sustainable development. 

The six core values for executives and staffers are expertise, responsibility, respect, cooperation, leadership and challenging spirit. 

Korean Air announced to its executives and staffers ¡°KE CoC,¡± or code of conduct, based on these.
 
Korean Air said the KE CoC will be utilized as a guideline for realizing the new future values so Korean Air¡¯s new corporate culture can be realized.
