On Dec. 31, 2024, Jung Jin-wan took office as the 56th president of Woori Bank in a ceremony at the bank’s headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul.
On his inauguration day, Jung emphasized the importance of earning more trust from customers.
He also unveiled his three core management policies - earning more trust from customers, sticking to satisfying customers and bringing innovation to Woori Bank.
“We can earn more trust by thoroughly strengthening internal control,” Jung said.
President Jung pledged to improve Woori Bank’s systems and work processes to give employees time and a mindset to take better care of customers.
President Jung went on to emphasize that Woori Bank’s existence is based on win-win growth with its customers, and the tougher times are, the more Woori Bank should think about customers.
In particular, Jung made it clear that Woori Bank will take the lead in supporting the real economy in line with the government’s financial policies as the bank’s founding philosophy is “smooth flow of money is vital to the nation’s growth.”
President Jung added that Woori Bank will focus on innovation to quickly respond to changes.
According to Jung, Woori Bank will boldly change its performance evaluation method, from relative to absolute evaluations, to avoid excessive competition and pursue the growth of both the bank and its employees.
Jung announced his intention to create a young and dynamic corporate culture so that employees will be able to develop differentiated competitiveness and better serve customers.
“2025 will be an important year for Woori Bank to powerfully take off again,” said Jung, concluding his inaugural speech by calling on all employees to join him in his way to innovation for a better future for Woori Bank.
Renewal of NFT Wallet Service
Woori Bank announced on Feb. 6 that it opened a renewed version of its NFT Wallet Service that enables the issuance, synthesis, and sharing of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) based on its own blockchain network.
Woori Bank explained that the renewed service allows customers to enjoy new experiences beyond the function of storing NFTs.
First, customers can issue digital content as NFTs, such as their own images and videos. For certain NFTs, they can create or convert new NFTs through the synthesis function.
In addition, a community function within the NFT wallet has been introduced to allow customers to communicate with one another.
To commemorate the reopening of the NFT Wallet, Woori Bank will hold the “Woori Influencer Contest,” which will give prizes to the top 10 users with the highest number of likes.
Woori Bank will offer the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Shinsegae gift certificates as prizes for the top 10 users.
To participate in the event, users can click “Let’s Create NFT Feed and Win Various Prizes!” in a special event corner of Woori Bank’s WON Banking App.
“Woori Bank will continue to provide new digital experiences utilizing NFTs by expanding the scope of NFT application,” a Woori Bank official said.
Helping Marginalized Families with Woori Love Fund
Woori Bank will conduct the Marginalized Family Support Program through the Woori Love Fund, a social contribution fund raised by employees, in February.
According to Woori Bank on Feb. 4, the Marginalized Family Support Project, which will be launched this year, was selected through employee voting.
It aims to provide support to families, such as families with disabled people, dementia patients and single-parent families.
Apart from one-on-one counseling with professional counselors and emotional support through education, Woori Bank will provide support for leisure and cultural activities, such as attending performances and camping, to expand understandings and communications among family members.
The Woori Love Fund has been a social contribution fund raised with contributions from employees for more than 20 years since 2003.
It has continued to convey the warmth of Woori Bank employees to neighbors in need, including support for childhood cancer treatment, the underprivileged and helping families recover after disasters.
