President Lim Jung-bae of Daesang Corp. stressed qualitative growth and expanding the global business for this year.
In his New Year¡¯s message, issued on Jan. 2, President Lim said, ¡°With the onset of ¡®Trump 2.0 Era,¡¯ the United States¡¯ realigning of an economic order in its own perspective will disrupt the current trade order and bring about business environment changes.¡± He also saw worsening domestic outlooks.
The Korean economy is forecast to grow at 2 percent in the wake of the slowing export growth rate, declining domestic consumption and rising household debts, he said.
President Lim said, ¡°Expanding the business in Korea will get harder, and the rising currency exchange rate, caused by the declining value of the Korean won and uncertain supply chains, caused by climate change, are other factors.¡±
He picked this year¡¯s major plans, such as qualitative growth, change & innovation, and global business expansion.
As for qualitative growth, he said, ¡°If consumers¡¯ needs are met based on core capabilities, and differentiated values are offered, they will pay off for us, and we have to provide values customers recognize through products, not simply selling products and think that they receive economic prices corresponding to them.¡±
President Lim said, ¡°if we start with our surrounding little things, such as the changing of meeting methods, work circulation in each department and strengthened cooperation with outside experts, they begin to change slowly and it could lead to innovation.¡±
In the domestic market, he said, sustainable growth cannot be expected due to a slowing economic growth rate, low birth rate and aging, and Daesang¡¯s market portfolio should be diversified in overseas market with growth potential.
