KPX will host Annual 2025 GO15 Meeting in Seoul

Korea Power Exchange (KPX) was inaugurated as president company of 2025 GO15, the association of the largest power grid operators, at a forum that took place in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, from Oct. 27 to 29. 

KPX was selected as 2024 vice president of GO15 and 2025 president of GO15 in the annual meeting in 2023. KPX will host the Annual 2025 GO15 Meeting in Seoul. 

In his closing session remarks, KPX Chairman Jung Dong-hee said, ¡°GO15 is responsible for a major task of energy shift, and KPX will do its best as the 2025 presidency of GO15 to spearhead an energy shift era through exchange and cooperation among power grid operators across the globe by making the most of the experiences KPX accumulated as 2024 GO15 vice president.¡±

Prior to the Annual GO15 Meeting, the Dammam forum took place under the theme ¡°Powering the Future Toward Net Zero.¡± 

Experts from industry, academy and research circles around the world had heated discussions on power grid technologies and policies to achieve net-zero under sub-themes: global energy outlooks and challenging tasks; accelerating decarbonization; optimizing power grids for net-zero, volatility and power grid flexibility; power grid plans; net-zero operation and AI; and new technologies in the power sector. 

KPX Planning Director Chae Young-jin, a member of the GO15 Governing Board, spoke about proposals for achieving net-zero based on Korea¡¯s experience at a panel session, titled ¡°Power Grid Plans and Operation for Net-Zero¡± and exchanged views with foreign experts. 

Participating entities shared outcomes of technology related to the safety of power grid and inertia, energy storage system, and resource adequacy. 

Five entities, including the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), the host of the Annual 2024 GO15 Meeting, and Korea made their presentation. 

Participants shared pending issues of each country and countermeasures and proposed ways of promoting cooperation to explore solutions among GO15 member countries. 


DR Market in Goold Shape

The demand response (DR) market is in good shape with the DR resources¡¯ curtailment rate surpassing 100 percent. It has proven the demand response system has settled down in the power market. 

Figures, released by KPX, showed that experiments, conducted last Dec. 4 and 5, showed that 78 demand response sources reduced 4,472MWh, surpassing 4,198MWh in curtailment order amount, recording 107 percent in the average curtailment rate. 


KPX Awarded for Agriculture and Fishing Village ESG 

Korea Power Exchange was presented with a recognition certification in the ¡±agriculture and fishing village ESG action certification¡± at the 2025 Agriculture and Fishing Village Shared Growth Fund Workshop, organized by the Korea Foundation for Cooperation of Large & Small Business Rural Affairs (KOFCA).

With the winning of the award, KPX has been recognized for its contribution to putting into practice agriculture and fishing village ESG by implementing diverse social contribution projects using an agriculture and fishing village shared growth fund.

The agriculture and fishing village ESG action certification selects and awards companies, institutions and organizations which contribute to realize ESG in the agriculture and fishing society. 

KPX has operated diverse shared growth programs with the goal of improving effective welfare of the agriculture and fishing districts and creating social values.

A KPX official said, ¡°KPX¡¯s winning the recognition certificate is owed to precious fruit we¡¯ve reaped together with regional residents, and we will do our utmost to realize shared growth and ESG management with regional society by fully utilizing an agriculture and fishing village shared growth fund from now on.¡±

KPX has been spearheading the creation of sustainable society by ramping up shared growth and cooperation with agriculture and fishing village districts based on ESG management tenets. 


KPX Puts Into Practice ESG Management by Donating ¡®PCs of Love¡¯

Korea Power Exchange held a ceremony at KPX headquarters on Jan. 15 to reassemble 40 PC terminals and 33 monitor units and deliver them to 10 regional children¡¯s centers in Naju and Eloom System. 

The donation is designed to realize ESG management and support the digitally marginalized bracket as part of a ¡°matching day project to create social value¡± in Gwangju.
