President Kwon Myung-ho of Korea East-West Power (EWP) toured the Donghae Power Complex on Nov. 27 and demanded that EWP devote itself to developing future technologies to prepare for the hydrogen economy era.

Starting with his tour of the Shinhonam Construction Complex on Nov. 5 one day after his inauguration, President Kwon visited complexes across the nation, including Ulsan, Dangjin, and Ilsan power complexes to meet EWP executives and staffers and lend an ear to field voices.

In the afternoon of Nov. 27, President Kwon toured the Donghae green hydrogen R&D cluster in which a project to verify all-cycle green hydrogen is being carried out.

He looked into the progress of the implementation of a government-initiated task related to hydrogen production, storage and utilization and gave words of encouragement to the staff, urging them to spearhead the building of a hydrogen industry ecosystem through the successful construction of a water electrolysis-based production center.

Donghae Power Complex has already finished a task on the development of a load variation water electrolysis hydrogen production technology designed to cope with renewable variations.

Starting this year, the complex has been implementing four new tasks - hot water temperature electrolysis hydrogen production, high-safety clean hydrogen storage, non-mental hydrogen pipeline joints and hydrogen sensor development.

EWP has also been implementing a project to build a hydrogen production center to ramp up the competitiveness of the water electrolysis industry in cooperation with the Gangwon provincial government, Donghae City and Daewoo E&C.
