Acquisition of Corporate Electronic Signature Certificate Provider License

On Oct. 23, KB Kookmin Bank announced that it acquired an e-signature certificate provider license, including for corporations, for the first time among Korean financial companies.

It has been four months since the bank launched KB Kookmin Certificate for Corporate Customers, a certificate service exclusively for corporations and small business owners, in June.

KB Kookmin Certificate for Corporate Customers can be freely used in the KB Star Corporate Banking Application and internet banking.

It can be used with a six-digit simple password instead of a complicated password. Corporate customers can use this certificate for two years free of charge.

With KB Kookmin Certificate for Corporate Customers, customers can easily access various corporate customer services including KB StarFX, a platform for foreign exchange trading and Tablet Branch which allows customers to conduct banking work outside of their offices with tablet PCs.

KB Kookmin Bank will provide the same customer experience as KB Star Corporate Banking by expanding the scope of their utilization to external work such as e-bidding, tax invoicing and contracts between companies.

Partnership with Starbucks Korea

KB Kookmin Bank signed a business partnership agreement with Starbucks Korea to provide easy payment, specialized financial products, and simple authentication services within the Starbucks app.

The two industry leaders will collaborate to bring new experiences to consumers beyond their respective fields of coffee and finance.

The signing ceremony was held at the Starbucks Korea Support Center in Jung-gu, Seoul with the attendance of Starbucks Korea CEO Sohn Jung-hyun and KB Kookmin Bank President Lee Jae-keun among others from both companies on Oct. 15.

Under the deal, the two companies will establish a cooperation system and develop sustainable collaboration models in various areas, including the introduction of easy payment, the launch of an affiliated passbook, the introduction of KB Kookmin Certificate, and the expansion of customer rewards.

Starting from the first quarter of 2025, KB Kookmin Bank will provide an open banking-based account payment method on Starbucks Application.

Starbucks previously accepted prepaid Starbucks cards and credit cards as online payment methods, but this partnership will add a new account payment method to enhance customer convenience.

Starbucks and KB Kookmin Bank will also launch the first Starbucks-only passbook that reflects customers¡¯ lifestyles and add KB Kookmin Certificate as a simple authentication method in Starbucks app.
