EWP Implements Project to Localize Korea¡¯s 1st Nonmetal Hydrogen Pipelines
Korea East-West Power Co. said on Sept. 24 the power company was implementing a project to localize the nation¡¯s 1st nonmetal hydrogen pipelines and joints at a green hydrogen production test-bed of Donghae Power Complex.
EWP teamed up with 10 institutions, including LS Cable & System, Korea Gas Safety Corp. and Korea Research Institutes of Standards and Science and landed a state-run task on the localization of nonmetal hydrogen pipelines and joints, awarded by Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning (KETEP) in July.
The participants had an inaugural meeting to implement the task. KETEP is an institution under the umbrella of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
EWP plans to verify the integrity of nonmetal hydrogen pipelines and joints, being developed by LS Cable & System.
The power company will construct nonmetal hydrogen pipelines and joints and operate verification fand pipeline integrity monitoring facilities and ensure field safety management.
Nonmetal hydrogen pipelines are designed to address brittleness and corrosion, caused by hydrogen¡¯s penetration into the inside of the conventional nonmetal hydrogen pipeline, and production of 150 meter - long or more nonmetal hydrogen pipelines and transpiration will reduce construction period and installation costs dramatically.
