Oh¡¯Food, the food brand of Daesang Corporation, has launched two new products, ¡°Stick-type Kimjaban,¡± capitalizing on the global popularity of Korean dried seaweed.
According to the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Korea¡¯s dried seaweed exports crossed 1 trillion won, the highest ever, in 2023.
Korea¡¯s dried seaweed, which is exported to about 120 countries, accounts for more than 70 percent of the global dried seaweed market.
Demand for seaweed is also expanding to include not only dried seaweed for lunch boxes but to Kimjaban (seasoned and salted dried seaweed), which can mix well with a variety of dishes.
In response to this, Daesang will introduce two new topping-type seasoned & salted dried seaweed products that go well with any dish to help people enjoy dried seaweed through its global brand, Oh¡¯Food, aiming to satisfy people around the world.
Stick-type Kimjaban has two kinds — Original Kimjaban and Kimchi Kimjaban. First, Original Kimjaban is made with sesame oil and salt, giving it an authentic Korean flavor.
Kimchi Kimjaban, which offers the flavor of kimchi, a representative Korean food, is expected to be well received by foreigners who love kimchi.
In particular, as dried seaweed is recognized as a healthy food in the global food market, Daesang paid much attention to the ingredients of Kimjaban.
Kimjaban is certified as a vegan and gluten-free food product and contains no preservatives.
The two stick-type seaweed products have been available at H-MART, a Korean-American supermarket in the U.S. since September.
They were showcased at World Food Istanbul 2024 (WFI) in Istanbul of Turkiye in September and will be at SIAL Paris 2024 in Paris, France in October.
