Chmn. Lee Seong-hai of Korea National Railway (KR) participated in the Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (GICC), hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).
He was also engaged in a series of sales meetings with railway officials, including Filip Czernicki of Centralny Port Komunikacyjny of Poland (CPK) to win railway orders abroad, KR said on Sept. 12.
Chmn. Lee obtained information on Poland¡¯s high-speed railway projects during his meeting with CPK CEO Czernicki on Sept. 10 and promised the seamless execution of a contract on the design of a high-speed line between Poland¡¯s Ostrava and Katowice and the Czech border.
KR landed the order in cooperation with another Korean company.
On the same day, Chmn. Lee had a meeting with Ahmed Al-Yafei, CEO of Etihad Rail Infrastructure Company, responsible for the construction and operation of national railway networks of the United Arab Emirates, to promote Korea¡¯s high-speed construction technology and Korean-made train control system, dubbed ¡°KTCS-2.¡± They also discussed ways of collaborating on railway projects.
Chmn. Lee had a lunch meeting with State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Mongolia Batbold Sandagdorj on Sept. 11 and discussed ways of participating in Mongolia¡¯s railway sector. Both sides agreed to step up cooperation for Mongolia¡¯s development of the railway sector.

Chmn. Lee delivered a welcoming speech at a special session of GICC 2024, in which he spoke about the future direction of the railway, an eco-friendly transportation means, and promoted the strong points of ¡°K-Railway,¡± such as Korea¡¯s high-speed railway, the metropolitan express train network (GTX).
Chmn. Lee said, ¡°I¡¯m pleased to communicate with foreign railway officials, promoting the excellence of the K-Railway and build cooperative ties during the GICC.¡±
KR will accelerate efforts to land overseas orders based on needs related to the railway, obtained though aggressively promoting exchanges with foreign procurement countries, he added.
Meanwhile, KR discussed ways of promoting cooperation with the Limon freight train construction project in the Atlantic Ocean with the chief the Incofer of Costa Rica and a high-speed railway between Malaysia and Singapore with the high-speed company CEO of Malaysia.
KR introduced major features and technologies of the GTX, including planned routes and the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) method as participants went on a tour of the construction field of the GTX.
Korea National Railway said on Oct. 2 that it is expanding a ¡°Smart Work System¡± in which KR employees can work with a notebook PC even under diverse environment conditions, such as home working, outside work and business trips.
