President Kim Kyung-hwan of Korea Housing-Finance Corp. (HF) began his official duty following his inauguration ceremony at HF headquarters in Bussan on Sept. 26.
In his inaugural speech, President Kim said, ¡°The housing market and housing finance, influenced by policy environment changes such as demographic structure changes and digital transformation have been materialized, and HF will have to make strenuous efforts to not only offer competitive financial products, favored by recipients by nurturing its core capabilities but also supply sable and sustainable financial services.¡±
¡°HF will not only beef up its capabilities as a full-fledged think tank for supporting policy decision-making but also create a dynamic and creative corporate culture to bring about change and innovation,¡± President Kim said.
President Kim said he will devote himself to making HF a body trusted and recognized by the government, the industry community, people and even abroad.
President Kim earned a master¡¯s degree and a doctorate degree in economics from Sogang University and Princeton University of the United States, respectively.
He served as assistant professor of Syracuse University of the United States, assistant professor of Sogang University, urban finance advisor to the United Nations Habitat (UN Habitat), chairman of the Asian Real Estate Association, non-standing director of Korea Housing-Finance Corp., chairman of the Korean Association for Housing Policy Studies, chairman of the Korea Real Estate Analysis Association, president of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, and the first vice minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

HF to Hold Public Policy Proposal Contest on Demographic Structure Change
Korea Housing-Finance Corp. will hold a public policy proposal contest designed to explore people¡¯s fresh policy recommendations to cope with demographic structure changes such as low-birth, super aging and ¡°provincial extinction,¡± HF said on Sept. 30.
Any one in Korea can participate in contest areas related to overall improving of housing finance policies designed to cope with demographic structure changes like overcoming of low-birth, steps against super aging, response to provincial extinction and rising one-member families.
Contestants are required to send proposals at the bulletin board of the contest at HF¡¯s website by Nov. 29.
HF plans to select a top prize with 1 million won in prize money, two runner-up prizes each with 500,000 won in prize money with three participation prizes each with 300,000 won in prize money after screening contestants¡¯ possibility of solving problems, possibility of realization, originality and suitability.
